Detailed annotation | The mincing-machine belonged to the family of Ira (sic in the documents!) Andreevna Schuler (nee Weber). The Weber and Schuler families were deported for special settlement to the Iurga Region of the Kemerovo oblast’ by a Decree of the Praesidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated 28.08.1941 “On the Re-settlement of the Germans Living in the Volga Region”. The mincing-machine was brought with them amongst other personal effects. It is not known which family it belonged to (the Webers or the Schulers) in 1941. Ira Andreevna (born 1936) was a child when the family was deported, and the mincing-machine could have been given to her either by her mother – Elizaveta Mikhailovna - or by her husband’s family (her husband’s name is not known). It was kept in the I.A. Schuler family. It was given to the Museum in 2005 when the Museum prepared an exhibition called “Nemtsy v Sibiri: stroitel’stvo goroda Iurgi ii sud’by spetspereselentsev” [“Germans in Siberia: the Construction of the Town of Iurga and the fate of the Special settlers”]. |
