A photograph of a family of special settlers, de-kulakized and exiled from Chuvashia. It was taken in 1935 in Anzhero-Sudzhensk in the Mariinskii Region of the West-Siberian Krai (Administrative Region). It is on show in an exhibition in the Anzhero-Sudzhensk Municipal Local History Museum.

Description of exhibitA black-and-white picture of four people in a living-room: there are an elderly woman, a boy and two small girls. The boy (standing, far left) is wearing a dark-coloured shirt with a turn-down collar, fastened with buttons, and dark trousers. On his left is an elderly woman (seated), wearing
a multi-coloured shirt, and apron with longitudinal stripes and a dark-coloured skirt that comes below her knees. She is wearing a light-coloured headscarf, which is tied under her chin. The woman has a little girl on her knee and the child is wearing a multi-coloured short skirt, dark trousers, light-coloured, knitted socks and she has shoes on. To the left of the woman is a little girl (seated), wearing a multi-coloured dress which comes down to her knees, dark-coloured gaiters and dark socks.

Detailed annotationA photograph of a family (probably a grandmother and her grandchildren). They are special settlers, de-kulakized and exiled from Chuvashia. It was taken in 1935 in Anzhero-Sudzhensk. The photograph is shown in an exhibition entitled “Spletenie sudeb” [“The Intertwining of Fates”] in the ethnography hall of the Museum. Their names are not given.
