Description of exhibitA black-and-white copy of a photograph, showing a group of 12 people in military uniform in the style worn in the period 1922-1924. The people are arranged in three rows: in the top row 5 people are standing; in the middle row there are 5 people seated, and the man seated in the centre has a vertical flap on his left sleeve with badges of rank (four squares); in the bottom row, where there are two men in a semi-reclined position, the one on the extreme right has a vertical flap with badges of rank (four squares). The photograph was taken in a studio – in the background one can see an artistically designed backdrop – a country scene.

Detailed annotationA photograph of a group of personnel in the Anzhero-Sudzhensk Special Purpose Detachment, taken in 1922 in a studio, possibly in Mariinsk. None of the 12 individuals shown in the photograph is known by name. It is
common knowledge that in 1921 the Detachment took part in the suppression an armed peasant uprising under the leadership of P.K. Lubkov.
