An official memo from the director of the Personnel Section of the UkhtPechLag, Smirnov, and the director of Registration and Statistics Section, Kukin, to the director of OGPU Industry No.2 dated 03.08.1933. It is stamped “Lit.”V” V. Srochno [Urgent]”. It is an enquiry as to the whereabouts of Anna Grigor’evna Davydova, a special settler, who was sent on the 12th June, 1933, to Sudostroi and set out for the Chib’iu Settlement. The document is kept in the Museum of the History of Vodnyi. It was transferred from the archive of the “Progress” Electro-ceramic factory in Ukhta, the successor to the Radium Industry. Description of exhibitTypewritten, original on a blank form, signatures – autographs, a resolution – autograph, single-sheet document on one sheet of paper, dated 03.08.1933. It is addressed to the director of OGPU Industry No.2, for passing on to the Accounting and Distribution Section. At the top left there is an angular typewritten stamp. It says: "Upravlenie Ukhto-Pechorskogo ispravitel’no-trudovogo lager’ia. Otdel kadrov.” [“Administration of the Ukhta-Pechora Corrective Labour Camp. Personnel Department”]. The month, year and outgoing No. “637008” are typed in, the number of the day of the month, “3”, is handwritten in purple ink. The document is signed by the director of the Personnel Department, Smirnov, and the director of the Accounting and Distribution Section, Kukin. In the top right-hand corner there is the stamp: “Lit.”V”. V. Srochno [Urgent]”. The text of the document reads: “Srochno soobshchite, pribyla li c trakta na Promysel No 2 v iiune mesiatse s.g. spetspereselenka DAVYDOVA Anna Grigor’evna, sledovavshaia na sudostroi i v utverditel’nom sluchae kogda i kuda one vybyla. Po imeiushchimsia u nas svedeniiam Davydova vyekhala 12 iiunia 1933 g. na shniage s Promysla No2 no napravleniiu v Chib’iu, no o dal’neishem ee dvizhenii u nas svedeniia net”. [“Report urgently, has the special settler Anna Grigor’evna DAVYDOVA arrived from the highway to Industry No.2. She was travelling to Sudostroi and if the answer is in the affirmative when and where she went. According to our information Davydova left on the 12 June, 1933 on a boat from Industry No.2 in the direction of Chib’iu, but we know nothing about her further movements”] The words “u nas [“we have”] are written in by hand in purple ink. Further down is the Resolution written out by hand in violet ink: “t. [illegible] srochno otvetit” [“Comrade [name illegible] to answer urgently”] signature illegible, date “5/VIII”. One can imagine that the order was given by D.G. Khomiakov (in August, 1933, Deputy Head, then Head of Industry No.2) to the Head of the Accounting and Distribution Section of the Industry.
