Official memo from the director of Supplies in the OGPU UkhtPechLag to the director of the TEK (the Technical and Operational Column) of Industry No.2 (the radium mine), concerning the limits on the distribution of bread for the first decade of April (year not given). There are also instructions on the distribution of bread as a reward to all prisoners completing work not less than 100% of the norm. The document is kept in the Museum of the History of Vodnyi. It was transferred from the archive of the “Progress” Electro-ceramic factory in Ukhta, the successor to the Radium Industry. (Photo 2007).

Description of exhibitPaper, carbon paper, manuscript, copy, signature – autograph, a single-sheet Document handwritten with a carbon copy. The address part “Eksploatatsii (TEK)” [“Operations (Technical-Operational Column)”] and the size of the limit on the bread-ration “0.650 grams” are entered by hand in purple ink. The signature is illegible; in the bottom left-hand corner is the date “2/IV”, no year given. In the top right-hand corner the number “128” is written in pencil – obviously the number of the page in the file.

Detailed annotationAn official memo from the director of Supplies of the OGPU UkhtPechLag to the director of the TEK (Technical-Operational Column of Industry No.2) dated 02.04 (year not given) with an instruction as to the limit on the issue of bread to prisoners for the first decade of April. The main index, connected with production for March, is set on average at 650 grams of bread per person. It also contains instructions on the issue of bread as a reward (an additional 100 grams per day) to all those prisoners who have completed work to not less than 100% of the norm. The document was transferred from the archive of the “Progress” Electro-ceramic factory in Ukhta, the successor to the Radium Industry.
