Museum exhibit /Embroidered panel.
An embroidered panel. 1950s. Made by Elena Ilginaite-Miežetienė while she was in exile in Krasnoyarsk Region. It is kept in the Priekule Museum of Exile and the Struggle for Freedom (Priekule, Lithuanian Republic). It was given to the Museum by E. Ilginaite-Miežetienė in 2006. (Photo December, 2010). Description of exhibit | A panel made from black satin with a lining using the same material, backed with narrow bands of coarse grey calico. Finished by machine. It is embroidered in satin stitch with silk thread (Iris-stitch). The floral composition has three elements: on the right and the left there are identical garlands of white and blue flowers with long stalks (possibly lilies and corn-flowers). In the centre there is a bouquet made up of the same flowers and a monogram comprising the letters “M” and “E”. In the corners of the panel there are loops, stitched on and allowing the panel to be nailed to a wall. |

Detailed annotation | An embroidered panel (bed-cover). 1950s. Made by Elena Ilginaite-Miežetienė in exile in the Krasnoyarsk Region. While she was in exile, Elena married and had children. She returned to Lithuania between 1965 and 1968. The panel is kept in the Priekule Museum of Exile and the Struggle for Freedom (Priekule, Lithuanian Republic). It was given to the Museum by E. Ilginaite-Miežetienė в 2006. |
