Museum of School No.3 ‘Pages from the History of the Sosnogorsk District in the 20th century’
The Museum was founded in 2002 on the initiative of the history teacher V.N. Bublichenko in the form of a project of the school’s history club ‘Regional History’. The Museum is located in the school building, in a room formerly called ‘Room to the Glory of Battle and Labour’. The exhibitions ‘Remembering the Victims of Repression in the Sosnogorsk District’ and ‘History of the Settlements of the Sosnogorsk District’ both opened on 1 September 2004. They exhibit biographical documents, photographs and items from private archives of residents of the Sosnogorsk District, copies of documents on the history of the SevZhelDorLag and the Pechora Camp, including documents on the history of the development of the natural gas and oil industry in the Sosnogorsk Region, maps and items of everyday camp life.
The collection of exhibits and material started in 1999 with research carried out by secondary school pupils and local history excursions within Sosnogorsk Regions and to the archives of the Administration of Correction. At present the collection comprises about 100 items and documents.
The Museum is also the venue of the history club ‘Regional History’, where students can give papers, take part in discussions and attend lectures. Thematic excursions are also on offer.
